You know how ducks smoothly sail across the water, but they're fiercely kicking beneath the surface? Well, this is "the kicking." This is hidden effort and process behind the final result.
These are just few of many color tests behind the Houndstooth Twist Cowl. When designing it, I was overwhelmed by the possible color combos it could come in. I legit stared at a pile yarn for an hour before finally acknowledging that the only way I was going to figure this out was by actually knitting these ideas. So that’s what I did. For hours, I knit every combination I thought might be something. So much work and material. And the result? I ended up picking the most straightforward color-ways of the bunch.
I could feel like I wasted all of those hours, but I don’t. The reality is even the most simple solutions take a lot. The hours and effort I spent testing colors was necessary. It's what it took to get to my destination.
My point: Thoughtful things take time and effort to arrive. An idea, task or project. A relationship, business or career. They all take fierce kicking beneath the surface to move things forward. So if you don’t feel like you’re at your desired destination yet, try not to be hard on yourself. You haven’t failed or out of time. You’re just still in process and very much on your way.
