Process: INSPO BEHIND THE IMPERFECT SWEATER

It began with a realization: there's SO much nuance to the human body. Like, yes. To an extent, we all know this already. However, it wasn’t until I began making clothes and dressing women that I truly understood it. Standard measurements like height, waist, bust and hip don't account for enough. There's torso length, shoulder width, arm length, general body tone, and the list goes on. The body is so intricate and proportions can widely range within one “size.” A garment cut for my body won’t necessarily lay the same or even flatter another's, same size or not.

This lesson really hit home when I was casting for runway shows. I couldn’t believe how differently the same garment could fit on these gorgeous models with “the same” measurements. Sometimes it would fit to perfection and other times it would look totally off. Sometimes, it even looked unflattering. Why? Because we’re really all unique little snowflakes, and unless we’re going custom, it’s pretty impossible for one design to fit every body as intended.

So it’s no wonder why we might sometimes get the impression that our bodies are wrong. That we need to change ourselves to fit our clothes when it really should be the other way around. Clothes exist to serve you. To honor your body with a flattering fit, freedom of motion and comfort. Your body is right. It is strong, capable and enables you to do so much. It is right. And if a garment doesn’t celebrate that then, honestly, it’s not worthy of your closet.

You are enough. Your body is enough. Designs fall short. Clothes fall short. But you, my queen, do not. And I wanted to create a special garment that embodies exactly that. Enter the Imperfect Sweater. From its scattered gradient of eyelets to the hidden note on the inside neckline (yes girl - there's a little note just for the wearer). This sweater will keep you comfy and serve as a reminder that “this knit isn’t perfect, but you are.”

Clothes exist to serve you, not the other way around. Never forget it boo.
