Yasss boo! We’re participating in Black Friday today, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why. I know that some in the sustainability space pass on the holiday, and I understand it. Historically, Black Friday has been categorized by frenzied crowds stampeding to insanely discounted toasters, thoughtlessly over-consuming because “why not at this price?”

However, just because that’s been the norm doesn’t mean we can’t take a different approach. Even on Black Friday, you can still chose to be an intentional shopper and only purchase the things you need (and enjoy a sweet discount as you do it!) You can take advantage of the sales to shop quality over quantity: buying well made things that you normally wouldn’t splurge on or supporting sustainable brands whose price point is typically out of reach.

This is why Declarative is running a sale today. With our price point being what it is, Declarative is rarely an “impulse” purchase to the amazing people who support us. More often than not, our customers wait and save up to invest in one of our pieces. It’s a thoughtfulness that I deeply appreciate and want to support in return. So this Black Friday, our knits are on sale as a little thank you to our incredible community. Those of you, who want to fill gaps in their wardrobe with quality, sustainably-made pieces. Those of you, who want to vote with your dollars and support our efforts in slow fashion.

Although I‘m alone in the studio everyday, I am by no means in Declarative alone. You’re all a part of the team, and we’re all building this brand together. None of this could exist without you.
